Louis J. Vigorita has been in private practice since 1977 representing injured workers before the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and the Office of Hearings and Appeals of the Social Security Administration.
Louis has spoken to national audiences on Social Security Law in Washington DC, San Francisco, and San Diego. He is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR), the foremost group of those at the forefront of social security litigation.
As past president of the Central Coast Chapter of the California Applicants’ Attorneys’ Association (CAAA) he was instrumental in expanding the organization of those specializing in workers’ compensation law in the central coast of California.
Louis graduated from Long Island University in New York City. After teaching high school he attended and graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego in 1977 where he received an American Jurisprudence Award for his work on the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). He attended the International and Comparative Law program in Paris, France through the University of San Diego Law School in 1975. After passing the California Bar in 1977, he took the specialization exam in workers’ compensation and became a Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law.
He has represented both sides in workers’ compensation, working for a large Los Angeles defense firm in the late 1970’s. He has represented counties, school districts, and large insurance companies in addition to many other large entities prior to specializing in representing only individual workers.
Louis has been awarded Martindale-Hubbell’s highest accolade of an “AV” rating. Martindale-Hubbell is an attorney rating service that has been rating attorneys throughout the United States since 1868. The rating is the result of an extensive confidential review conducted among the lawyers and judges in our community.
